From 1 April to 18 April 2022, fans around the world voted on their favourites of the past year across 10 categories for the 2022 Chulo Magazine Awards – their annual event which honours and recognises the best of the past year in the entertainment industry – and the winners were announced today.
Since the event was introduced in 2013, the Chulo Magazine Awards have allowed fans to vote for their favourites in various pop culture categories. Along with a specialised jury panel, hundreds of fans contribute to the entire process, from the initial nominations to final winners, with the final winners selected exclusively by fan voting.
Chulo Magazine readers decided that the long-awaited Ghostbusters: Afterlife was the Best Movie, beating out other nominees Dune, Free Guy, Godzilla vs Kong, The Suicide Squad, and Encanto. Capcom’s Resident Evil Village won Best Video Game, beating contenders Sable and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Another notable selection was model Kristen Hughey as the winner of the Glamour Model of the Year category, with fans likely being impressed by her captivating photos on Instagram. Hughey was also a nominee for Cosplay Model of the Year, but the award went to cosplay legend Jessica Nigri. Model Sarah Clayton, who was also nominated in the 2020 Chulo Magazine Awards, won the Social Media Model of the Year category, beating model/actress Angela White by a single vote.
