Check Out The Trailer for ‘The Little Mermaid’

Disney fans finally get a first look at the remake's underwater world

The official trailer for The Little Mermaid was dropped during the 95th Academy Awards, giving a first look at more of the undersea world in the remake of the classic animated film. You can check out the trailer below:

Halle Bailey will play Ariel in the upcoming remake. Previous teasers have highlighted Bailey’s powerful vocals in ‘Part of Your World,’ as well as provided a quick look at the film, but this is the first to show more of the undersea world that Ariel wants to leave, as well as more of the changes in this new retelling. For one thing, we see Ariel rescuing Eric from a shipwreck, which appears to be far more fiery and intense than in the original film.

The live-action Little Mermaid also stars Melissa McCarthy as the evil sea witch Ursula, Javier Bardem as the overprotective King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, as well as Daveed Diggs as musical crab Sebastian, Awkwafina as seagull Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Ariel’s bestie Flounder.

Directed by Rob Marshall, with new music by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken, the live-action (and controversial) version of The Little Mermaid hits (or is it swims into?) cinemas on 26 May 2023.
