Well, that didn’t take long. Bandai Namco has released yet another Tekken 8 gameplay trailer, this time featuring Ling Xiaoyu. This trailer is a big reveal, as Ling was previously unannounced for the game. We’re honestly just surprised that this happened so soon after Jun Kazama (supposedly) wrapped up the reveal trailers for their already-announced roster. You can check out the trailer below:
The trailer shows Ling Xiaoyu kicking her winged slippers at Nina Williams and King, who were her opponents in the Tekken: Bloodline anime. In addition to Xiaoyu retaining her childlike mannerisms, we also get to see her Rage Art in action. Xiaoyu unleashes full-on kung fury after connecting with her initial hit, striking the opponent from various angles before finishing them off with a palm strike to the gut, all while exuding a lot of energy.
To be fair, the Xiaoyu reveal shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that Ling Xiaoyu has appeared in every Tekken game since being introduced in Tekken 3. She had initially hoped to win enough money to build her own amusement park, but she became engrossed in the Kazama family drama, after developing feelings for Jin.
Currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Tekken 8 is a sequel to 2017’s Tekken 7, and features an upgraded visual style powered by Unreal Engine.
Although no release date has been announced, Bandai Namco has previously revealed that Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Jun Kazama, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson, and Jack-8 will return as playable characters in Tekken 8. With the speed they’re releasing these trailers, we don’t think an official release date is too far off.
