Bandai Namco has dropped another Tekken 8 gameplay trailer, this time featuring Lars Alexandersson, the enigmatic illegitimate son of series veteran Heihachi Mishima (making him Kazuya‘s half-brother and Jin‘s uncle). Lars, who made his debut in Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, is back with a variety of familiar attacks, some of which are enhanced by lightning due to his Mishima ancestry. In the trailer, Lars appears to be wearing a new outfit, which consists of a badass coat and metal shinguards. Lars can still unleash his punishing lightning attacks, putting him on par with Jin and Kazuya. Among these attacks are a vicious wall bounce and one that resembles a lightning blade. The trailer also marks the first appearance of Jack-8 in a Tekken 8 trailer. While Lars does indeed mop the floor with him, don’t expect Jack players to be pushovers.
Currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Tekken 8 is a sequel to 2017’s Tekken 7, and features an upgraded visual style powered by Unreal Engine.
Although no release date has been announced, Bandai Namco has revealed that Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Jun Kazama, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Lars Alexandersson, and Jack-8 will return as playable characters in Tekken 8.
