Hey, Gundam fans! Imagine stepping into the universe of Gundam, not just watching but being there. That’s the promise of Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, the first-ever feature-length anime in virtual reality.
Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V, a French VR production house, have teamed up to bring this groundbreaking project to life.
Silver Phantom is set in the year U.C. 0096, just a few years after the epic war between the Earth Federation and Neo Zeon. The story follows Argen Keil, a shadowy mercenary group loyal to neither side. They’ve been hired for a high-stakes assassination mission, and you’re right in the middle of the action.
Silver Phantom uses Mixed Reality (MR) technology to immerse you in the world. You’ll be able to interact with characters, explore environments, and even feel the heat of battle. This will offer a truly unforgettable experience, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
The film’s trailer gives you a taste of what’s to come. Whether you’re a longtime Gundam fan or new to the series, from what we can tell, you do NOT want to miss this, because this is CLEARLY not your ordinary anime.
You can check out the trailer above. Stay tuned, because Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom hits Meta Quest on 3rd October 2024. Head over to the official website for more details.
