Before we talk about how to make a Whodunit cocktail, which itself is a spin on the Negroni, here’s a bit of history on one of the most famous Italian cocktails in the world.
Count Camillo Negroni, a charming cosmopolitan and a regular at the aristocratic Caffè Casoni in Florence, is said to have asked barman Fosco Scarselli for ‘a splash of gin’ instead of soda in his Americano after returning from one of his trips to London in the early 1920s. The Count’s ‘usual’ soon became known by the name of its famous inventor. The Negroni has an unmistakable flavour, served in a low, ice-filled tumbler with a fragrant slice of orange.
Inspired by 2019s Knives Out, the Cointreau-based Whodunit cocktail is so good, that Count Negroni himself would’ve asked ‘chi l’ha fatto?’ or whodunit?
