When former friends and collaborators Eminem and Royce Da 5’9′ reunited to form Bad Meets Evil, it seemed like a no-brainer. But featuring pop crooner Bruno Mars in their newest single “Lighters”, caused kind of a stir. We don’t really know why, since Eminem did the same thing with ‘Toy Soldiers’ and ‘Stan’ a few years back, even if he was only sampling the sounds.
So with all of that said, here is hip hop duo Bad Meets Evil, featuring Bruno Mars, in the official music video for the song ‘Lighters’.
This song is way far from the hardcore rap that Bad Meets Evil typically produces. The song is almost warm and fuzzy overall. It seems like Bruno Mars is impressively able to constantly punch out memorable pop hooks, ever since he became more known to pop audiences on the chorus of B.o.B.’s hit ‘Nothin’ On You,’ The chorus is what we think most listeners will remember from ‘Lighters,’ but there’s a lot of charm and humor in the song, as well.
‘Lighters’ may not be the hardcore rap most Bad Meets Evil fans want to hear, it blends hip-hop and pop really well, without alienating listeners of either genre, and that is pretty damned impressive.
