Appearing in magazines including Lowrider, BlackMen, and Jet, music videos including Drake’s “Put It Down” and more, Mexican-American model Kristal Solis is becoming a well-known face (and figure) in the modelling industry. She continues to make her mark, on her way to becoming tomorrow’s next top model.
We were very to have a chance to speak with this busy lady, and get our favourite questions answered:
Where were you born? I was born in Fort Worth, Tx but also raised in Michoacan, Mexico.
What nationality are you? I’m full Mexican.
Do you go to college? No, but I am a Licensed Cosmetologist and Certified Dental Assistant.
How long have you been modelling? Almost two years now.
How did you get your start in modelling? I started doing promotional modelling for beer brands like Coors Light and Tecate.
Where have we seen you? In most magazines like Show Magazine, Cover of Girls of Lowrider, BlackMen Magazine, Urban Ink, JET Magazine, and Hip Hop Weekly.
Do people recognize you when you’re out and about, like when you’re clubbing or shopping? Yes, very often.
What do they say to you? Do you like the attention? Some speak or just stare, but most of the time they compliment me. I’m used to the attention before modelling so it’s normal, but at times it’s scary because I don’t realize who’s watching.
What would the average person say about you? That I’m very positive and motivating.
What’s one thing about yourself that everyone should know? That I’m a strong believer in God, no matter what my lifestyle or job may appear to others.
Are you a good dancer? I believe so. I actually won the Miss Colita internet dance competition in April 2011 on a TV Show called Sabado Gigante on Univision.
What do guys compliment you most on? Most men give me compliments about my Eyes… But to the rest, my body!
Do you like the nerdy type, MMA fighter guy or the regular Joe? I like a regular Joe.
Really? So, what attracts you to a regular guy? One with a great personality.
Are you seeing anyone? Do we stand a chance with you? Yes, I’m in a relationship!
Do you have any secret weaknesses or guilty pleasures? I love chocolate-covered strawberries. To die for!
What’s your biggest turn on? I love a guy with beautiful white teeth, a toned body, and he has to smell great!
Do you consider yourself more of a “giver” or a “taker”? I’m an overall giver because I believe in giving and receiving which keeps me blessed.
What is the most romantic thing a guy has done for you? A decorated room, with scented candles, rose petals, hot bubble bath with candy and treats laying everywhere. (laughs)
If you could have any car you wanted, what would it be? A Mercedes and I have one.
Do you have any hidden talents? I’m a Chef. (laughs)
Oh yeah? What do you like to cook? I can cook just about anything with a recipe, but my speciality is Arroz con Pollo. Mmm…
What would you consider your strongest attribute? I’m a people-pleaser with a huge heart.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and who would you take with you? I would travel to Costa Rica! And take my baby, Keith.
What do you normally sleep in? I know this is TMI, but I like to sleep nakey. (laughs)
What is your favourite food? A Mexican soup dish called Pozole.
Who is your favourite comedian? George Lopez. He’s hilarious!
What do you do for fun? I like to work out and be around family and friends that are supportive of me.
Do you like video games? If so, what do you play?
I’ve never been into video games. I think the last time I tried to play it was Super Mario Brothers on Nintendo. (laughs)
Are you into sports? Do you have a favourite sports team? Yeah, I love to play volleyball. I played all four years in high school. And of course, I rep the home teams the Cowboys and the champs Mavs!
What are your dreams and goals? To own my own business and that’s what I’m working on now bringing retail-like girls’ clothing to www.kristalsolis.com.
