Japanese singer Kyra Machida is about to blow up the pop scene with her first ever single, ‘Connect,’ which landed on 11th October 2024. This electro-pop track with a bit of R&B flavour tells the story of Kyra finding her own sound after years of working hard in the music industry.

The visualiser for the song is pretty cool and goes along with the whole message of the song. You can check it out below:

Machida’s musical upbringing was heavily influenced by her mother, a singer herself. Growing up listening to legends like Whitney Houston, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald definitely rubbed off on Kyra’s sound, which she describes as a ‘fusion of soulful R&B melodies and powerful vocals.’ She also digs modern artists like Imogen Heap and PinkPantheress, citing them as inspirations.

A big moment for Kyra was seeing Japanese pop icon Amuro Namie perform live when she was eight. Totally inspired, Kyra threw herself into music, taking voice and piano lessons, and rocking every school talent show she could. By the time she was fourteen, she knew music was her thing for life.

Kyra’s hard work has already paid off — she’s teamed up with loads of fashion and car brands like Converse, Skims, Nike Air Max, and Mercedes Benz, which shows how much potential she has.

With ‘Connect,’ Kyra wants everyone just to embrace who they are. ‘I want people to cherish and embrace individuality,’ she says. ‘For people to unapologetically be themselves. Be and live with who you are. That’s what this introductory chapter with my new music is about.’ With its catchy vibes and message of being yourself, ‘Connect’ is a strong debut that makes Kyra Machida an artist to keep an eye on.
