The Flash Trailer Officially Dropped

The Bat is back, and we are here for it!

Warner Bros. officially dropped The Flash trailer on Super Bowl Sunday, and we couldn’t be more stoked, because it looks AWESOME. With all the years of production delays and star Ezra Miller’s recent run-ins with the law involving a lot of really stupid situations, it’s still hard to believe that The Flash actually happening at all. But scandals aside, The Flash is indeed happening, and based on the first trailer, Miller’s version of Barry Allen won’t be the main attraction. You can check out The Flash trailer below:

The Flash, loosely based on ‘Flashpoint,’ DC Comics’ 2011 comic book crossover event, will follow Barry across the multiverse as he goes on a reckless voyage into the past in order to prevent his mother’s death. He can (relatively) easily travel through time by using the Speed Force and really pushing the limits of his metahuman speed. However, in an effort to make things right after Barry’s tampering in past traps him in an alternate timeline that is entirely devoid of metahumans, he teams up with Barry from that reality (also played by Miller).

While not Henry Cavill’s Superman or Ben Affleck’s (who will also appear in The Flash) Batman, the trailer clearly presents Kara Zor-El (Sasha Calle) and this version of Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton, WOOOO!) as its world’s finest heroes.

If what we saw in The Flash trailer is any indication, The Flash has the potential to effectively reset the DCEU and introduce James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, which would be an interesting feat on the studio’s part, given the heat that the duo has received recently, especially with their getting rid of Henry Cavill as Superman. But we won’t know if that’s Warner Bros. Discovery’s plan, or if the film really even stands a chance, until The Flash hits cinemas on 16 June 2023.
