Chris Casamassa as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat

Chris Casamassa Gets Reunited with OG Scorpion Suit

A reunion almost thirty years in the making.

Chris Casamassa, best known for his role as the first on-screen Scorpion in the live-action Mortal Kombat film (or, if you’re as old as us, as Red Dragon in WMAC Masters), recently posted an Instagram reel of himself proudly displaying the OG Scorpion suit he wore in the cult classic film. The video was originally posted on TikTok in December 2021, but Casamassa is now sharing it with his Instagram followers.

‘There are some things in life that you never expect to see again,’ Casamassa says in the caption. ‘For me, the original Scorpion costume from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie was one of those things … Now, after all these years, the costume is back in my possession, and I couldn’t be more grateful.’ You can check out the post below:

Chris Casamassa played the legendary ninja in both the 1995 film and Mortal Kombat: Konquest TV series in 1998. He didn’t reprise his role as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997 (which was probably a smart move, because that movie SUCKED) because he was committed to doing stunt work in Batman & Robin (which still sucked, but who knew it would?). Scorpion was eventually played by martial artist/actor JJ Perry.

Casamassa thanked Dustin Balderrama of Bluff Studio Art for returning the suit to him. In addition, Chris Casamassa stated, ‘See you in the multiverse.’ As we already mentioned, Casamassa originally posted the video on TikTok in 2021. Does this imply that we’ll see the original Scorpion in the upcoming Mortal Kombat sequel?
