On the 36th anniversary of his role as Vicomte de Valmont in the Broadway production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, late actor Alan Rickman has been remembered in a Google Doodle, created by French artist Helene Leroux. Rickman passed away in 2016 at the age of 69, due to pancreatic cancer.
Rickman is shown raising his eyebrows and surrounded by leaves in the Google Doodle, which you can check out below:
Rickman’s performance as de Valmont is regarded as an important one in launching his career. One of his first leading roles, it helped him to gain recognition as an actor.
Rickman went on to star in major films including Die Hard in 1988, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991. His portrayal of Hans Gruber in Die Hard is widely regarded as one of the most iconic villains in film history.
Alan Rickman played the scene-stealing Severus Snape in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone‘ in 2001. Rickman’s role as Snape made him an international sensation.
‘It was a privilege to honour Rickman’s life and career in the image,’ said Leroux. The artist has previously worked for Studio Aka, Nexus Studios, and JibJab, and is now employed full-time by Google.
