One Punch Man

A One Punch Man Movie Is in the Works

But who will play the iconic bald-headed hero?

A One Punch Man movie is on the way. The popular manga and anime is set to be adapted into a live-action film by Sony Pictures, which will feature beloved bald-headed hero Saitama and his mechanical sidekick Genos.

With Fast & Furious director Justin Lin on board, as well as scriptwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who previously worked on Venom and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the production team seems to be solid. The film will be produced by Arad Productions, who were previously involved with Spider-Man: Homecoming and the live-action Ghost in the Shell. The live-action adaptation One Punch Man movie could be very well in production by the end of this year.

One Punch Man Movie

Hugely popular in both Japan and around the world, One Punch Man tells the story of Saitama, a self-made superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch, but is bored with the lack of challenges in his fight against evil.

One Punch Man started as a webcomic created in 2009 by Japanese artist ONE, and quickly became a hit, with more than 30 million copies sold worldwide. The series was later adapted into an anime by Madhouse Studios in 2015. For season two, J.C. Staff took over production, but fans noticed an unfortunate drop in animation quality.

There are still no details on who will play Saitama in the One Punch Man movie. We think they should go with an unknown actor, because there aren’t many actors we think would be a good fit for our favourite hero for fun. If Hiroshi Abe from 2012s ‘Thermae Romae’ were younger, he’d definitely be amongst our top choices.

It’s also too early to know which parts of the story will be covered in the One Punch Man movie. either.  Maybe the entire first season will be squeezed in, culminating in Saitama’s battle with Lord Boros.
