After sixteen years, the beloved fighting game series is finally coming back.

Bandai Namco and Toei Animation have announced the upcoming release of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2023 event, to the surprise of longtime franchise fans. You can check out the teaser trailer below:

The Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series, known as ‘Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!‘ in Japan, was first released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005, with sequels following in 2006 and 2007. The popular fighting series also had two spinoffs, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 will be the series’ first instalment in sixteen years. The upcoming game’s teaser trailer recaps previous mainline titles and shows Goku transforming into Super Saiyan Blue.

People who grew up playing the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series will remember the games’ large cast of playable characters, each with an alternate form, a 3D camera angle, and an animation design that complemented the dynamic fighting mechanics.
