Atari has announced that their microgame collection, Atari Mania, will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 4 April 2023. With over 150 challenges, Atari Mania features levels, characters, and challenges, based on classic Atari games and properties. You can check out the trailer below.
In the game, you play as the Atari Vault caretaker, in charge of protecting the retro gaming classics of yesteryear. One night, the vault is infiltrated by evil dead pixels who wish to see the end of retro gaming as we know it. It’s up to you to fight the evil that has infected the familiar faces and games of the golden age of video games!
Atari Mania features manic mashups, excellent exploration, pixel-perfect flair, a treasure trove of Atari history, and characters as you’ve never seen them before. It includes microgames inspired by Atari’s extensive catalogue, including Asteroids, Yars’ Revenge, Centipede, and Rhindle, Adventure’s fiercest dragon. It also includes Pixel-Perfect Pizzaz, a fantastic neo-retro art update to the classic Atari 2600 style, and a soundtrack of retro-inspired jams. Vintage Atari art, posters, and manuals are among the many collectables available.
The game is already available on Steam, Epic Games, and Nintendo Switch, but for the PlayStation release, the controls have been completely redesigned, and performance has been fine-tuned. In response to user feedback, the Illogika development team improved the controls, making them smoother, more responsive, and more accurate. The game also includes new microgames and improved performance. A patch for the Nintendo Switch will also be available.
