Have you heard of Ebanie Bridges? This Australian professional boxer nicknamed ‘The Blonde Bomber‘ (like the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Terry Bradshaw but INFINITELY hotter), has held the IBF female bantamweight title since 2022, and is known for her too-hot-for-cameras weigh-ins and her outspoken personality.
Ebanie Bridges hails from Sydney, Australia, and prior to boxing, she practised karate from the age of five and competed until she was thirteen. She then began training in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
Bridges took up boxing in 2016, just before turning thirty. She started out as an amateur but quickly moved up through the rankings. She won both the Australian National Golden Gloves championship and the gold medal at the 2017 Australasian Golden Gloves. However, Bridges was no stranger to the squared circle, having previously worked as a ring card girl.
In her first six professional fights, Bridges, who made her professional boxing debut in 2019, immediately made a name for herself, and won the vacant IBF Australasian female bantamweight title in her seventh fight.
Bridges faced Shannon Courtenay for the IBF world bantamweight title in 2020, but she was defeated. In 2021, she literally came back swinging, winning three consecutive fights.
Bridges competed for the IBF world bantamweight title again in 2022, this time against Mara Cecilia Román. She was declared the new IBF world bantamweight champion by unanimous decision.
Ebanie Bridges has become a bit of a controversial person in boxing due to her INSANELY sexy weigh-in outfits and outspoken personality. However, these qualities, together with her apparent skills, have made her amongst the most popular boxers in the world.
Bridges beat rival ‘Shotgun’ Shannon O’Connell in an intense bout to retain the IBF female bantamweight title in December 2022, later commenting, ‘Not bad for a skanky stripper I must say,’ referring to O’Connell’s comments about her.
