Square Enix has announced that Life is Strange, their new episodic adventure game, is coming soon to the PS4 and Xbox One. Life is Strange was developed by Paris-based studio DontNod Entertainment, who you may know from their debut game Remember Me, which was released last year. If you don’t know what the game is about, here’s the rundown:

In Life is Strange, you play as photography student Max Caulfield, who returns to the fictitious town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon after a five-year absence and reconnects with her old friend Chloe. And this is where the game’s twist comes in: while saving Chloe, Max discovers that she has a remarkable power — the ability to rewind time. The girls soon find themselves exposed to the darker side of Arcadia Bay as they uncover the disturbing truth behind the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber.

“Everybody at DontNod is excited to be working on such a refreshing title” said Jean-Max Moris, Creative Director at DontNod Entertainment. “We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity”.

“When we first saw Life is Strange we immediately realised that DontNod have created a unique experience, something special” said Jon Brooke, VP Brand and European Marketing Square Enix Europe. “Everyone who’s seen the game has instantly fallen in love with its distinctive style and mood”.

Life is Strange is going to be a compelling, story-driven experience for players where choice and consequence play a key role in how the story unfolds. With high quality production values and a unique hand-drawn art style, and the ability to affect the game’s story and also change the course of history itself, Life is Strange looks like it’s gonna be a winner.
