The final trailer has been released for Universal Pictures’ upcoming horror comedy ‘Renfield,’ starring Nicholas Hoult as the titular character, and Nicolas Cage as his evil boss, Count Dracula. You can check out the trailer below:
The trailer, set to Radiohead’s ‘Creep,’ begins during the time period of author Bram Stoker‘s 1897 novel ‘Dracula,’ which tells the story of Renfield’s first encounter with the cunning Count. It then flashes forward a century, with Renfield now the vampire’s hapless lackey, forced to find new humans to feed him and quench his thirst for blood.
But everything changes when Renfield saves a New Orleans bar from a shooting, and meets traffic cop Rebecca (Awkwafina), with whom he quickly falls in love. When he tells his new love interest about his unusual occupation, she encourages him to find the strength to break free from Dracula’s abusive grip.
Renfield and Rebecca then find themselves on a blood-laden mission to defeat the Prince of Darkness before another evil scheme is put into motion, because Dracula isn’t one to let a servant go without a fight.
Along with Cage, Hoult, and Awkwafina, the cast also includes Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, and Brandon Scott Jones. Chris McKay, who is best known for directing ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ and ‘The Tomorrow War,’ is behind the camera for ‘Renfield.’ The script was written by Ryan Ridley, based on an original idea from Robert Kirkman, creator of ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Invincible.’
‘Renfield’ hits cinemas on 14 April 2023.
