Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem director Seth Rogen has announced the main voice cast for the upcoming film. Rogen, who plays mutant warthog Bebop, made the announcement on Saturday night at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, alongside the film’s lead cast members.
The CG-animated theatrical film will star Jackie Chan, Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon. Chan will play Splinter, Abbey will play Donatello, Brown Jr. will play Michelangelo, Cantu will play Leonardo, and Noon will play Raphael.
The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is an original story that follows the crime-fighting Ninja Turtles as they protect New York City’s sewers and streets.
The brothers set out to ‘win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts’ after years of isolation from the human world. Their new friend April O’Neil assists them in taking on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they quickly find themselves in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. Flashy moments of ninjutsu-infused punchy-punchy kick-kicks follow.
Other cast members in Mutant Mayhem include Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, John Cena as Rocksteady, Ice Cube as Superfly, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, and Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil.
‘We are beyond thrilled by this world-class cast we’ve assembled to bring these iconic, beloved characters to life in a new chapter of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe,’ said Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation President Ramsey Naito in a statement. ‘This really sets a new bar for this globally celebrated franchise, and we can’t wait to show audiences this film.’
