Beauty And Brains. Jessica Legend Has It All.
A woman that is becoming an inspiration to a lot of Latinas with her ambitious, get-it-done attitude and drive, we had a chance to catch up with model/entrepreneur Jessica Legend, and ask her a few questions.
Is your name really Jessica Legend?
First name is Darlene, middle name is Jessica, Legend is Destiny.
Destiny? What’s that about?
You know how Beyonce has her “Sasha Fierce” alter-ego, where she can bring out her wild side? Well, I wanted something like that to be the figure behind my brand. When you hear the word legend, it just has this… enpowering sound to it. I put it with my name, and now I’m Jessica Legend, a fierce, powerful woman.
Where were you born?
I was born in the Bronx, NY.
What’s your background?
I am EcuaTriniRican.
What have you been up to lately?
Besides being the CEO/Owner of my own production company, JessicaLegendProductions, I am also the assistant/publicist for Dipstick Magazine.
What is it that your business does?
My company is divided in 3 sectors; creative, charitiable contribution and models and promotions. Creative deals with finding the right photographer, clothing, stylist, makeup artist, theme and location for each project. Models and promotions cast models for jobs and help develop the model to become a star. Our charitable contributions department works with organizations that help women and children in need. We assist with any special projects they may need by sourcing volunteers for them. We also have the give back initiative where we give a few women in shelters a complete makeover and professional photoshoot to help build back their self-esteem.
How long have you been at it?
Believe it or not, just 3 months and the response has been amazing.
How did you get your start as a model?
I had a few photographers contact me to do test shoots. One day decided I was ready. It’s been a wrap ever since.
What would you be if you weren’t a model?
I am not a model. (laughs) I am a business woman that models to help promote her brand.
Are you seeing anyone? Do we stand a chance with you?
There is a special person in my life.
What kind of guys are you into?
Secure, intelligent, sincere, thoughtful, kind, gentle yet firm. On the physical end… he must be tall and must have rough hard working man hands. NO SKINNY JEANS!!!!
Do you like video games?
If so, what do you play? I SUCK at video games.
Are you into sports?
I like basketball and football. I suck at both but I am pretty friggin’ awesome at handball.
