Comic Book Publisher Makes a Comeback for a New Generation of Fans.

Any of you out there remember Valiant Comics? We most certainly do. Here’s a little background info for you: Originally founded back in 1989, Valiant Comics became an insanely popular publisher, featuring work by many of the industry’s top creative talents, including Jim Shooter, Barry Windsor-Smith, Joe Quesada, Steve Ditko and a lot more. The company was reincorporated as Valiant Entertainment in 2007 by CEO Jason Kothari and Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani. The thing that made the books so great is that they didn’t really seem like you were reading a comic book, which is something that most companies weren’t doing back then.

When we saw these guys at the C2E2 2012 in Chicago, our jaws dropped almost simultaneously, when we saw a huge poster of X-O Manowar. We found out that they’re planning to make a comeback this summer, starting with four new titles featuring their most popular characters – X-O Manowar #1 in May, Harbinger #1 in June, Bloodshot #1 in July, and Archer & Armstrong #1 (yay!) in August, for a new generation of readers. The books are going to be headed by uber-talents, including New York Times best-selling author Robert Venditti (The Surrogates) and Eisner Award-winning artist Cary Nord (Conan).

They’ve even changed their iconic compass logo, using the talents of award-winning graphic designer Rian Hughes. By looking at it, you can tell that these guys mean business. “Rian and our Executive Editor Warren Simons put an incredible amount of energy into making sure that the new logo and the look of the books themselves accurately reflect our perspective on what the Valiant Universe was and can be,” said Shamdasani.

With all of the updates that Valiant has made, you can tell that they plan to be around for a long time, giving the industry’s big hitters some real competition. We really can’t wait to see all of the things that they have in store.

Thanks for coming back guys, we missed you. And Hollywood, you all might want to think about turning THESE comic books into movies.
