Dislyte Review: A Mind-Blowing ‘Miracle’ of a Game

After months of waiting, Lilith Games' newest mobile game is officially out now, and we are NOT disappointed.

You know you’ve got something special in your hands when you have Anubis, Odin, Sun Wukong, and Medusa kicking bad guys’ arses in the same game. In Lilith Games’ Dislyte, players can battle evil Miracles with Espers against stylish backdrops, gorgeous visuals, and head-nodding beats, and that’s not even half of what this turn-based RPG has to offer. After being smacked in the face with all the Instagram ads, we decided to pre-register to be sure we were one of the first on the frontline to save the world. And we were NOT disappointed.

Dislyte, set in a gorgeous urban setting, immerses players in a world where evil lurks around every turn. Heroes must fight against evil forces endangering humanity amid the brilliant lights and neon signs. Thankfully, the mysterious Nexuses’ sonic waves have endowed a chosen few with divine skills, converting ordinary humans into amazing Espers ready to fight the good fight.

You’ll join forces with Espers to save the world from Miracles. While their names appear to be a good thing, they are far from it. Miracles float through the sky, unleashing death and ruin on the cities below as they summon terrifying creatures known as Miramon (Miracle Monsters).

You can check out the story trailer below:

As terrible as these Miracle Monsters are, Espers have the power to destroy them — and look amazing while doing it. Dislyte’s Espers are fantastic characters from various mythologies from throughout the world, reinvented beautifully for this pop-fantasy RPG.

Sun Wukong from Chinese mythology joins Egyptian god Anubis, Norse god Odin, and many other characters. You’ll meet ancient gods and mythological beasts during your neon-filled trip across gorgeously designed maps, learning more about their stories as you go. These Espers, of course, not only look fantastic, but they also strut their stuff on the battlefield with sophisticated combat moves set against striking 3D terrain and cityscapes.

If you’re interested (and you should be), you can discover more about the origins of the Espers on Dislyte’s official Facebook page.

Characters will become even more stunning as you acquire and create your Esper lineup, thanks to a distinctive pop fantasy art style and high-quality animations. You’ll then use strategic gameplay to unleash hell on the Miramon, as you’d expect from the creators of mobile hits like AFK Arena and Rise of Kingdoms.

With beautiful cityscape sounds and a gacha system where you get to drop the beat, Dislyte keeps players on their toes and challenges their musical preferences. Infrasound waves appear to have a huge influence on the monsters appearing worldwide, so it’s up to you to use divine power to save humanity. Whether you prefer pop, rock, or EDM, the fashionable mixes can provide a unique aural experience and help generate a diverse tone throughout the exciting gameplay.

The only problem we found so far is that the PFP aspect of the game is a bit thirst-laden, for sure. The game is quick to let players know that for $100, they can buy packs that will help them advance faster. Dislyte’s season pass doesn’t seem to offer anything useful. You can simply grind it out and level up, to gain the types of things you’ll get from beating a basic season pass level.

We’re not sure why anyone would pay for this, but maybe the value for the money will change over time.

Overall, Dislyte is a refreshing and original free-to-play mobile RPG, despite its limited plot. Even a lousy gacha pull can be valuable because the characters are all unique and exciting. The combination of a fascinating futuristic landscape, along with the club scene aesthetic of the world and characters, and an outstanding EDM soundtrack, make this such a solid alternative to most fantasy RPGs.

Dislyte was released on 10 May 2022, and is available on iOS and Android.
