Ever dreamt of a quiet night in, only to find your other half has other plans? Comedian Max Castillo, better known as Big Time Maca, understands the struggle. His latest music video, ‘Bed By 9,’ is a comedic send-up of the typical rapper’s bravado, offering a relatable and humorous look at the desire for a peaceful evening.
Forget Lambos and ladies – this one’s a celebration of glorious sleep, visually stunning and guaranteed to tickle your funny bone. Check it out below:
Castillo, teaming up with director and VFX whiz Christian Klein, and producer Evil Laugh, has crafted a video that goes way beyond a bedroom scene. The video opens with Maca chilling in his sunset-lit bedroom. His girlfriend walks in, feeling kinda… anxious, and Maca’s game – until the drowsiness from chamomile tea hits him like a tonne of bricks.
Next thing you know, Maca’s on a wild dream escapade searching for his ultimate desire – the comfort of his bed. He’s not alone, with other guys joining him, all victims of their girlfriends’ late-night desires.
Influences? Think The Lonely Island, Lil Dicky’s comedic raps, the musical brilliance of television’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and a dash of Lil Nas X. The song itself nods to 90s R&B, and the video cleverly pays homage to iconic music videos by Boyz II Men and Janet Jackson.
This is a top-notch video, lads. It lets you know you’re not alone in the sleep-over-sex struggle, reminding us that sometimes, a good kip is the real winner.
