For fans of The Legend of Zelda, this is a great time to be one. The next game in the Zelda series, Echoes of Wisdom, is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch later this year. Nintendo has also recently confirmed that a live-action film based on the franchise is currently in development.
Nintendo has announced that in celebration of the release of Echoes of Wisdom, a ‘Hyrule Edition’ Switch Lite would be released. The console will go on sale on 26 September 2024, and is currently available for pre-order at Best Buy, GameStop, and Target for $209.99.
The Switch Lite Hyrule Edition is gold with a black trim, a classic combination worthy of a Hylian monarch. The back is decorated with the distinctive crest of the noble house, and the lower-right corner of the front is imprinted with a small Triforce emblem.
The limited-edition Switch Lite Hyrule Edition console includes a bonus 12-month individual Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription (worth $49.99), however Echoes of Wisdom will still need to be bought separately. However, the Nintendo Premium Subscription tier includes online gaming, cloud-based saves, and the ability to play classic titles from the Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, Game Boy Advance, and N64. This includes Zelda games like Majora’s Mask, A Link to the Past, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It’s unquestionably a great method to relive the early days of the game if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic.
Although the Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition is essentially the same as previous Switch Lite systems overall, the fact that Echoes of Wisdom is the first Zelda game with Princess Zelda as the main character may convince you to buy it even if you already own a Switch.
