Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, Square Enix’s new single-player supernatural mystery-adventure, is out now on Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.
Inspired by actual Japanese urban legends, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is set in Tokyo’s Sumida Ward, a place once known as Honjo, in the late twentieth century, during the Showa Period (1926-89). brings to life ghost stories styled like a 2D visual novel. Playing the game’s collection of spine-chilling ghost stories from the viewpoint of several characters who possess the ‘power of curses,’ players can investigate the mysteries of Honjo.
During the day, players will explore hidden corners of the city, solve riddles, and discover new clues to help them solve the mysteries behind the seven deadly curses, unravelling the hopes, dreams, and fears of these unique characters as their motivations intertwine in a story several twists and turns.
But at sundown, players will either hunt or be hunted by other curse bearers. During this supernatural ordeal, players must master control of their own powers, using strategic gameplay and choose to either deploy their curses at the opportune moment, or risk being cursed themselves with the powers held by others.
The original digital soundtrack by composer Hidenori Iwasaki will also be available next week, on 16 March 2023.
