Officially announced yesterday by developer IO Interactive, Hitman 3 has become Hitman: World of Assassination, a newer and easier-to-understand version that does away with the confusing array of original purchase options, in favour of a single, straightforward package.
You can check out the launch trailer below:
Owners of Hitman 3 will have access to material from the first two games via the Access Pass system, a free upgrade on all platforms. For those that haven’t yet played any of the Hitman games, a new $70 bundle is now available that includes Hitman: Game of the Year Edition, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, allowing them to dive right into The World of Assassination. The $30 World of Assassination Deluxe Pack rounds out the collection with the rest of the awesome DLC, including the Seven Deadly Sins campaign and the sniper challenge maps.
In addition, the much-hyped and long-delayed freelancer mode is now available to players that effectively changes the game into a roguelike adventure as Agent 47 wages a one-man war against criminal organisations from brand-new, customisable headquarters.
Players won’t have access to all of the unlocked tools of the trade like in the regular Hitman experience, so they’ll need to plan their strategy before hitting targets. In a mode that IOI describes as an ‘independent experience,’ players will have to assemble and manage an arsenal of equipment, make decisions over what to carry with them, and maybe lose their loadout.
The main campaign’s scripted elements are removed from the game mode, which creates a more dynamic environment in which to test your talents. Since the trilogy’s debut in 2016, each Hitman game has received positive reviews, with Hitman 3 frequently hailed as the best in the series, due to its flawless idea implementation, compelling narrative, and hilariously sinister assassination techniques.
