Wow, talk about your expensive tastes. The ColorWare crew recently released 24K gold controllers for the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, and they look AMAZING.
If you’ve never heard of them, Minnesota-based ColorWare specialises in changing the colour of existing products, turning them into something special and eye-catching. Founded by current CEO Justin Cisewski back in 2000, ColorWare started out co-developing gaming consoles and PCs with AlienWare, and quickly moved on to other electronic devices, most notably products by Apple and Blackberry. This time, however, the company decided to give the ho-hum controllers the ultimate makeover and turn them into real masterpieces, with 24K gold plating.
According to ColorWare, ‘The extraordinary new controllers undergo a complex process to achieve a rich, glossy finish. These products look amazing and have outstanding ergonomics’ ColorWare guarantees buyers that the only change is in the visual quality of the devices, which as you can see in the pics, is without a doubt for the better.
Both the 24K gold-plated versions of the DualShock 4 and Xbox One controllers were released as EXTREMELY limited editions — just 25 numbered units — each priced at $299. Both series have already sold out.
If you’re interested in all the other customisations ColorWare does (and you should, because they are absolutely SICK), you should totally follow them on Facebook at @ColorWare, Instagram at @colorware_inc, Twitter at @colorware, and on their YouTube channel.
Even though we totally missed out on picking up one of these excellent controllers, we absolutely love them, and can’t wait to see what ColorWare comes up with next. But what do you think about the 24K gold controllers? Would you pay $300 to get one?
