Have you heard of sportscaster-turned-model Holly Sonders? If not, allow us to change that.
Holly Sonders hails from Columbus, Ohio, and attended Michigan State University. She graduated in 2009, but not before helping the Spartans win the Big Ten women’s golf tournament the year before.
Sonders later worked as a sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network before moving on to work in television in her hometown of Columbus, and later in Little Rock, Arkansas. Then she landed a gig at Golf Channel, which launched her media career.
Sonders would begin to establish herself as a household name there.
Holly became a star at Golf Channel, most notably for her work on Morning Drive, Golf School, and as an on-course reporter during events. She was able to combine her golf expertise and experience, as well as a colourful personality and eye-catching appearance, to become a major force on the network.
Sonders had a stellar career at Golf Channel, which she leveraged into a new position at FOX Sports. She’d reach new heights there, but she’d also face some of her biggest challenges.
Sonders was a mainstay on FOX’s golf coverage. Her time there, however, would come to an unfortunate end.
She was demoted, being replaced as an on-course reporter and moved to the postgame show before leaving. This change occurred following ‘the worst day of her life’ at the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay.
She asked tournament winner Jordan Spieth if he had packed a fifth outfit for a possible Monday playoff at the end of the tournament.
Apparently, viewers used Holly asking that question as an excuse to unleash verbal hell upon her. According to Sonders:
‘People were like, “Oh my God you are the stupidest person I’ve ever met” … “What a dumb bimbo.” ‘That was probably the worst day of my life, the next day. I remember sitting on the charter flight to the Women’s Open, watching all this come in (even by) some people who were friends of mine in the media.’
‘To this day, I don’t even understand. It was a joking question to Jordan, I understood … I got destroyed by that. After that, I was like, Fuck it. If all these people I had given so much to in the world of golf are going to come down on me on that, then forget it.’
To us, it just sounds like they were all just a bunch of haters. Anyway, Sonders said the experience of getting demoted ‘hardened her’, and she would eventually leave FOX Sports in October 2019.
Since then, Holly Sonders has undergone multiple life changes, Sonders launched her TEAMUP Fitness app back in 2020, has built up a HUGE following on her Instagram (which as of this writing is at 662k followers), and also launched her exclusive content website, HollySonders.com. On it, she provides some not-quite-safe-for-work content in addition to a place where people can message her privately.
She’s also had some relationship ups-and-downs which we won’t be getting into, because she’s not dating us, and we are admittedly haters.
In any case, it’ll definitely be interesting to see where Holly Sonders’ career goes from here. While it’s a long way away from her roots on the golf course, we’re sure Sonders will find just as much if not more success with her endeavours.
Holly Sonders is ABSOLUTELY on our growing list of sexy golfers, which currently includes hottie Blair O’Neal.
