Inspired by the compliments on her exotic beauty — a sexy blend of Puerto Rican and Black — and constantly being asked whether or not she was a model, East Coast stunner Sommie Lopez decided to embrace her ‘beauty within and outside’ and take the plunge into modelling.
Since starting her modelling journey, Sommie’s captivating 34-25-41 frame has graced the pages of several publications including Playboy, Succoso, Smooth, and more, with each new feature further solidifying her presence in the modelling industry.
Congrats on making your Chulo Magazine Debut, How do you feel?
I’m overjoyed and happy, and I would like to thank you for this opportunity.
Well, we’re glad to have you! Now, you’ve been in a lot of magazines, but what are the three best moments of your career?
Getting published, and being seen in advertisements.
We’ve seen your photos, and you have a really solid sense of style. What’s your favourite period of style, or favourite trend, and why?
1995 through 1998. I love Versace, Chanel, and Thierry Mugler clothes, they’re still fashionable and can be remixed with a bag, a plaid set of pants, or a skirt. A gold chain belt is still a cute accessory around the waist, giving the illusion of a small frame, or Chanel T-shirts and sweaters. Mugler was big on blazers and jackets, now it’s a thing. Versace, their iconic lion silhouette, the gold and black Italian — the Greek pattern is still beautiful to wear.
What do you think would make you stand out in the industry?
I have more of a different look, but the thing that pops out of my beauty is the full lips. They’re seductive like Angela Jolie.
How would you describe your personality?
Bubbly and comedic, free-spirited energy.
What three deal breakers when it comes to a man?
A man has to listen, be compassionate to a woman’s feelings, should support your goals, and you should support his.
Do you consider yourself romantic when it comes to getting intimate?
Yes, most definitely. I love the moments of the rush when someone surprisingly shows you how they feel, taking the time to adore every inch of you.
Ummm… Every inch. Got it. * Ahem* So, where should we take you on a first date?
A simple picnic on a warm day, greeted with red or pink roses, red Malbec wine and Chinese food.
What’s your favourite lingerie type wear?
A lace bodysuit. It cinches your waist and makes it look like an hourglass.
What do you wish more men would do?
Love harder.
What’s your favourite albums you’ve ever brought?
Brandy and The Spice Girls.
Where’s your favourite place to let your hair down?
Miami.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what’s the one thing you would want with you?
Secret by Rhonda Byrnes, my Bible, my pink laptop, and a Gucci thong bikini.
You had us at thong bikini. But moving on, what’s the best holiday destination on earth?
Milan.
What are some of your biggest dreams you hope to achieve?
To have my own luxury store with my name on it, and to get my first million through real estate.
How do you stay grounded? What keeps you humble?
Strong faith, but always show love around me even when it’s not being reciprocated.
What’s your favourite word or phrase in any language, and what does it mean?
Veni, Vidi, Vici. It means I came, I saw, I conquered.
