Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped the first trailer for the live-action adaptation of the DC Comics‘ superhero, ‘Blue Beetle‘. You can check out the Blue Beetle movie trailer below:
In the trailer, ‘Cobra Kai’ alum Xolo Maridueña plays Jaime Reyes, a recent college graduate who returns home full of hopes for the future, only to discover that his home is not quite as he left it.
As he searches for his place in the world, fate steps in to help him find it. Jaime’s childhood friend Penny entrusts him with a mysterious package that she begs Jaime not to open but also protect with his life. Jaime of course opens the package (because the movie has to happen), and unintentionally acquires the Scarab, an ancient relic of alien biotechnology.
The film also stars George Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillén, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, and Bruna Marquezine, and is the third of four DC Comics adaptations to hit cinemas this year, being preceded by ‘The Flash‘, and followed by the ‘Aquaman‘ sequel.
Angel Manuel Soto (‘Charm City Kings’) will helm the film, which was originally announced as an HBO Max exclusive, before becoming a full cinematic release.
