Actor Lance Reddick, best known for his role as Cedric Daniels in The Wire, was found dead at the age of 60, according to reports. The report states that police found Reddick on Thursday, 16 March in his home in Studio City, Los Angeles. The exact cause of death is unknown at this time, but police believe it was due to natural causes.
Beginning his career in 1998, Lance Reddick was well on his way to becoming the Samuel L. Jackson of television and video games, becoming well-known for roles in Fringe, Bosch, Oz, and Lost, in addition to The Wire. In recent years, however, Reddick has probably become best known for his voice work as Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, as Commander Zavala in Destiny, and as The Continental Hotel’s concierge Charon in the John Wick franchise.
In an Instagram post over the weekend, Reddick’s wife, Stephanie Day, finally opened up about the tragedy. She wrote: ‘Lance was taken from us far too soon,’ in a heartfelt tribute. She continued by expressing gratitude to her friends, family, and supporters for their support over the past few days.
‘Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them,’ she wrote.
In recent weeks, Lance Reddick had been on a press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4. The fourth instalment will be dedicated to the late actor, according to co-star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Lance Reddick’s friends and family. Rest in peace, mate.
