‘Blonde’, Netflix’s much-anticipated NC-17 Marilyn Monroe biopic, has released its first trailer, and it’s the best look yet at Ana de Armas as the legendary sex symbol.
According to Netflix’s official synopsis, the stylish black-and-white clip, based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates and directed by Andrew Dominik, aims to reimagine Monroe’s complicated life by ‘blurring the lines of fact and fiction.’
Monroe is seen crying while getting her make-up done at the start of the 66-second clip. ‘Please come.’ she whispers. ‘Don’t abandon me.’
The teaser ends where it began, with her practising flashing a wide smile. The trailer also features black-and-white footage of the 1950s icon walking the red carpet and striking a pose on the big screen, as well as additional black and white footage of her struggling to push her way through a crowd.

‘Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens,’ de Armas told Netflix Queue. “He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane.
“I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”
You may recognise De Armas from her roles in Knives Out and No Time To Die, as well as the erotic thriller Deep Water. The much-talked-about performance of the Cuban-born actress as the legendary Monroe will be available on Netflix on 23 September 2022.
