Lotus Evora S - Mercury Edition

Special Edition Lotus Evora S

UK’s Lotus Cars pays homage to former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

We’re not sure how many of you out there pay attention to cars made overseas, but we do, and this awesome ride is way too nice to not tell you about it.

You can’t help but take notice when something like this comes along: this is a one-off, limited edition Lotus Evora S that British manufacturer Lotus Cars created to be auctioned off for the Freddie Mercury AIDS research charity. The absolutely stunning car is a rolling tribute to the former Queen lead. The supercar’s sense of life and adventure goes hand-in-hand with the rock legend.

The red and gold stripe is, according to Lotus, inspired by the costume the Queen singer wore during the 1986 Magic tour (the final year Mercury toured with the band Queen). Accompanying the slick costume-inspired outer skin, is a sharp interior coloured yellow with black accents.

Like the exterior, the cabin colour scheme of the Lotus Evora S is also based on an outfit worn in a concert. Details added to the interior include a recreated Freddie Mercury signature on the dash panel. Featuring custom Recaro racing seats, Queen’s coat of arms logo is entered on the headrest while the image of the Union Jack flag is on the backside. And all of this beauty is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine.

The special-edition Lotus Evora S was recently sold and was a major draw for the auction. We really hope Lotus creates a design like this again, and hopefully car companies here in the US take notice and do something similar. Seriously. Please do something similar.
